Fun and Easy Stained Glass Art

At this time of the year, survival mode kicks in, and we are all looking for fun AND easy activities to get through each day. Here is an old standby that I've used every year with my second through fifth-grade students - Christmas stained glass.

The students absolutely LOVE the final result, so we often spend a few days on this to brighten up our classroom as the snow begins to fly and we wait (not so patiently) for winter break.

This is really very easy.

Begin with any seasonal coloring page. I have a set of pages with nice heavy lines like stained glass that I've had tucked away for years.

(Please note that I'm unable to share these pages with you. I did not create them and do not have the right or permission to share them. I've linked some suggestions at the bottom, but you can easily find pages yourself in an online search.)

Students should color the pages using heavy wax crayon.

Flip the page upside-down on some newspaper and squirt with a little baby oil.

Spread the oil across the entire page until all white spots disappear.

Wipe off excess oil and display!
