A Year of Awesome - Week 16 (Monday)

I think I can, I think I can... I'll be posting each day this week rather than leaving things until Friday. That's far more awesome for this last week of fun before the holidays begin! This week's linky is live now and will be part of each post this week. I hope you'll join me by linking up some of this week's awesome stories from your own classroom!
Monday - 5 Days until Christmas Break. Students entered the building just spinning today. I actually had one student chanting, "10 days 'til Christmas! 10 days 'til Christmas!" That's not a good sign for how the day will go... They did surprise me, though, and that is awesome!

We started the day with a performance by the high school band from next door. Perfect! Singing and dancing to settle us in, and that took us nearly to recess. After our break, we worked on the good copies of our persuasive letters to Santa from The Applicious Teacher.
I love this. Tomorrow we'll be assembling these little cuties! (I'll share the final products!)

We are also learning about Christmas in other countries and completing Little Red's Santa's Friends Around the World craftivity.
This is the perfect time-consuming-while-still-worth-doing-and-lots-of-fun activity for this week's social studies periods!

Finally, as promised, here are some photos of our Gingerbread Boys and Girls from my You'll Never Catch Me Gingerbread writing package. Next year I'll use the kids' photos instead of only having them decorate, but I think they turned out great this year anyway! Click on them to take a closer look. I think they're awesome!

There's still plenty of time to use this in your own classroom! You can grab a copy for yourself right here:
