It's The Little Things...

I stopped in at my classroom today. I didn't really want to - I'm NOT one of the teachers heading back in another couple of weeks... my holiday just started barely over two weeks ago. I needed a couple of things from my room, but while I was there I HAD to spend some time with my manipulative bins. Since I'm changing grades and classrooms, I inherited a whole pile of stuff. Included in the list were a ton of yucky, old, mismatched bins full of math manipulatives.

Okay, at least most of the labels matched. But... I am NOT going to look at this all year. I picked up plastic shoe boxes... yes, SHOE BOXES... from Home Depot and now these goodies are stacked beautifully in half the shelf space!! Ahhh... It's the little things that make me happy! :)
I LOVE the fact that they have lids!! And did I mention that these little babies are only $0.97 here in Canada?! I can't wait to get each of them labeled with something cute! I wish I'd taken a photo of the shelf as it looked when I left, but it was so stinking hot in there that I needed to get out. I'll post updates as soon as I have them!  ;)

  1. I saw those shoe boxes when I went to get paint for my shelves. I was sure tempted to buy some. They are a perfect size and they were a great price too. I wonder if there will be any around when I get home next month.

    1. They ARE a perfect size, Charlene! I have a ton of them at home for my shoes in a closet that is too small for any standard shoe rack. But in the classroom... I love that they can stack. They never seem to run out. They had to lift a skid off the top of the shelf, but there were two HUGE boxes of these up there! :) Enjoy the rest of your trip!

  3. It is amazing how matching bins can make your stuff look brand new. Lids are a must have. I am a long time devotee of the clear shoe boxes. My newest obsession is organizing my decks of cards (I have MANY kinds). I found great multi-colored yet still transparent boxes with snap on lids at the dollar tree. They are sold as food storage but they really helped the look of my card shelf.
