I'm Supposed To Be On Holidays!!

I spent the day in my classroom. I know... this is SUPPOSED to be my first week off! My school year just ended on Friday, but since I was changing classrooms there was just too much to do before I left last week for the cleaning staff to get in and do a thing. This is what it looked like when I arrived today...
These pictures don't do the mess justice. It was bad. Stuff in bins all over the place, things stuffed onto shelves by my (much appreciated!) helpers last week... bad. I spent 5 hours there, and despite the disgusting heat and humidity today, and am pretty impressed with what I accomplished in that time! This is how it looked when I left...
There's still an awful lot to put away, but the room needs to be cleaned first!

Not bad for a day's work! I can't wait to see it CLEAN! :)

  1. You ARE supposed to be on holidays! Don't worry - I'll enjoy them for you. ;) Our school is under construction and renovations this summer so we're officially shut out until the weekend before school starts. I'm glad I'm not changing rooms, unlike the majority of my coworkers. You made tremendous progress today, though. Now ... enjoy the rest of your week!!!

    1. Oh, Jen... I can't imagine being shut out until then!! :( I'm done now until August, but I'll be in before that last week. I'm heading out to the deck with my book while there's still some shade there... it is brutally hot here today!

      Enjoy your holidays!

  3. I just finished on Friday as well, and I always rest better through the summer knowing I've got a jump on September prep. Good for you - hope you love the new room and look at those nice big windows!

    1. Thanks, Susanna! I hate leaving it until the end. This room actually has about half the number of windows my last one did... that is one of the things I'm going to miss most, but I think I'll be pretty happy in this space!

      Enjoy your vacation!

    1. Thanks so much, Brandee! The space is starting to feel like my own! It will be so much better once it is clean! I'll get in in August after my trip to start setting up. I hate leaving that for the last week!

  5. I hear you, Erin. I spent 6 hours after school on Thursday and 7 hours on Friday packing up my room for cleaning. Luckily I have my grandchildren here this week so I can't go in and work.
I will probably go in one day next week just to make sure things are sorted out in my mind before I leave for Korea. Then, I will return the last week in August to set up.
You have done an amazing job getting your room that far in one day! Go now and start enjoying some you time. Happy holidays.

    1. Good for you for getting out and staying out. I don't think I'll go back until we're home from our cruise. Korea... wow! I think I remember you telling me you had family there, is that right? Have a great trip!

  6. Dude, is that a chalk board in your room?! That's soooo 1999! J/K

We had all of our chalkboards replaced with white boards in our board. And we're also shut out of our school starting on Monday. We can't go back in until August 23 or something like that.

    1. Oh, my goodness, Heidi... I laughed out loud when I read your message!! Yes, that is a chalkboard! Most of our classrooms still have them. I guess I'd rather have my SMART Board and chalkboards than white boards in my room! ;)

I'd HATE to not be able to get in until that late in August. I prefer to get in there and finish up when the building is empty. I get so much more accomplished that way!

    1. Today was a one-day deal! I am SO NOT going to spend my whole summer in there! I needed to clear all the junk off of the floor so our cleaning staff could get in to do their work. I still have the whole room to set up once they're done, but that can wait until after our trip! ;)
