CAFE & Daily 5

I am one of the few people left still teaching... Sigh... Two weeks to go, although my brain is already heading toward next year, and my move from fifth grade to 2/3! I'm sure I'm not alone in this... funny how we start thinking about the next school year before the current one is even over!!

This past week I had the opportunity to visit a primary classroom at another school in my area to see how some of the current practices are being implemented. It was a fantastic experience! I got to see (a June version of) the Daily 5 program in action and I'm very excited to try it out in my own classroom!

In preparation, I've been checking out The 2 Sisters website, The Daily Cafe, and it is absolutely packed with resources and strategies for teachers! (I'm planning on hitting up my principal for a membership for this year so I have access to ALL the goodies!) I also have both the Daily 5 and CAFE books - they are on my reading list for this summer.

This is what I created since I wanted something bright and colorful to match the rest of my classroom theme!

Unfortunately, I am no longer able to share these resources with you. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

I also have several products in this same decorative theme at my Teachers Pay Teachers Store, including my Alphabet Wall Display in Print AND Script. Click either of the images for more information!

    1. I was very impressed with how it ran in the classroom I was visiting! Looking forward to trying it out myself!

We have a ton of things going on in the next 2 weeks as well, but I still have curriculum to cover!! Yikes!

  2. These are great, Erin! I hear you about finishing up curriculum. I have one week to do that before we finish up with all the fun day, beach day, etc. kinds of days on the last week. Of course, we also have to fit in those report cards, right?

Have a great last 2 weeks with your Grade 5 class. You will have fun in 2/3 next year.

    1. Thanks, Charlene! Luckily my reports are done and handed in (unless of course I have editing) so that's one less thing to worry about! I started sifting through my many resources today - purging some, packing some, preparing to take others to my new room. Feels like I hardly made a dent!!

Enjoy your last couple of weeks!

  3. I'm still teaching too, Erin. I don't mind, because the weather hasn't been great anyway!
Good luck with the 2/3 group. When I moved from high school to 3rd grade I couldn't believe that the 3rd graders came to school prepared to love me! High schoolers come prepared to complain about you, so it was a pleasant surprise!
    Enjoy your summer :)

  6. Erin, Although I'm out for the summer, it doesn't feel like it...ha! A week of literacy workshops, a week of math workshops. I've already spent a day back in my classroom getting ready... We have Open House on July 30th! I had to move classrooms, too, as I am going from 4th to 2nd - AND using Daily 5 for the first time. I've been scouring pinterest for lots of cute ideas, and found YOU! I don't know how you have time for a blog....but I'll be following along and comparing notes with you :)

Open House in July?! That would NEVER fly in my area! Ours doesn't happen until the end of the first month of school. Try to enjoy some of the summer!!
